I have been focusing on eating a healthier diet and in the process, dropping a few pounds of excess weight. My doctor advised me to eat fruit as a substitute for other higher calorie desserts. I already knew that some fruits were very high in calories, but wasn't sure which ones were low calorie and more useful as "diet foods."

This book covers this in detail and the author has done so in a very well sequenced and easy to read manner. She covers various fruits, one by one, listing the calorie density and fiber content of a typical serving. Also discussed are health benefits or specific properties (vitamin content, antioxidants, etc.) associated with certain fruits, which I found to be quite informative.

If you are trying to lose weight or maintain your weight while eating a healthier diet that includes various types of fruit, you'll enjoy this book. Highly recommended!

This book basically outlines which fruits aid in weight loss and why. It's easy to understand and apply and will benefit people who want to maximise their weight loss potential. I love mangos and am relieved to see they are weight-loss friendly. The author also explains the nutritional value of each fruit, so you can get a clear idea of how each fruit will actually benefit you.
Does fruit make you fat? Generally not, since it contains fiber and easily digestible sugars...but if you drink concentrates and juices, they can be counter-effective in dieting. This guide recommends the best tropical fruits and ones you can find in a supermarket or growers market, to use in your smoothies or for a delicious non-fattening snack. The series includes vegetables and herbs to choose as well - so it is quite comprehensive.
Nice, fresh and punchy cover. I like the fruit categories, it is well presented. Precise, clearly explained, a nice glance at what fruit are the best and why. Well balanced with a summary at the end of each category. I might have liked a few more images of the fruit discussed inside the book, but other than that, it is a good guide to have handy. Interesting presentation of the other books in this series at the end.
Unfortunately I've packed on quite a few pounds over the years and so recently I decided to shed some of the weight. I picked up this book because I love fruit and wanted to make good weight loss choices. What I love the best about this book is that the author warns you about which fruits should be added to your diet, and which fruits should only replace other foods. The author also goes on to explain why some fruits are a good choice and others are not.
Great book, concise and to the point, just the way I like books to be. I'm in the process of taking off some extra weight and I'll be referring back to this book often while I start getting serious about my health. I do know a lot about nutrition, as many of us do, but I did actually learn some very interesting things about how each of the fruits affect weight loss. Highly recommended!
I just got done going through this book and now have some valueble information which will help me stay slim without having to follow a painful diet. You see it's great when you can loose weight by simply knowing what foods (fruits in this case) to eat and when to eat them.

Not only do you get a list of fruits to eat you also get an explanation why you should eat them so that you have a better understanding of how a weight loss diet actually works, which is valueble information many people still don't know. All in all if you like fruits you should definitely pick this up.
I purchased this book to see what fruits were good for losing weight, however, I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is interested in which fruits are best for improving your overall health - or health conditions.

Katherine communicates very effectively with the reader in an easy to understand way exactly how the fruits aid in losing weight and how certain fruits are good for your health and why.

There's even a helpful little section at the end that breaks down the specific fruits with a clickable link back to where she discussed it in the book.

I am happy to have this book in my library and highly recommend this book for your overall health!
